"The" source control? Sorry, but that doesn't tell us enough
information. There's a half-dozen major source control providers out
there, all of which have slightly different ways of doing things. Can
you take a step back, and explain in a *lot* more detail as to all of
your software setup, what steps you're doing, etc. Perusing
http://catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html would be a good way to
get some more info on how to ask questions so that others can answer
them.
